A Tribute to Philadelphia's Olympic Gold Medalists
Boasting the most diverse sports heritage of any city in the US, Philadelphia claims an unparalleled Olympic legacy. Area athletes have been a part of every US Olympic team dating back to the 1900 games in Paris, France.
PhillyGold! is a tribute to those extraordinary athletes who reached the pinnacle of their sport as Olympic champions in the Summer Games. From Alvin Kraenzlein’s four gold medals at the 1900 Paris games to Carli Lloyd leading the Women’s soccer team in 2012, PhillyGold! features every area athlete to bring home the gold.
With the primary focus on the Gold Medal winners and their achievements, PhillyGold! also features a remarkable presentation of Olympic artifacts. Highlights include medals from 4 separate Summer Games, some competition-used gear , photos and many other items related to the Summer Olympics through the years.
